A gathering of young orchestra players from around the bay
Since its inception in 2009, the Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival has been an exciting and impressive opportunity for some of the region’s finest young orchestral musicians to meet under one roof.
The San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, under Music Director Christian Reif, plays host to a handful of other ensembles, including the El Camino Youth Symphony, the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra and several others.
The festival’s music director this year is Daniel Patrick Stewart — himself an alumnus of the S.F. youth orchestra — and the featured repertoire is selections from Elgar’s “Enigma” Variations.
