Power Outage at CES Leaves Thousands in the Dark
The premier electronics convention was hit with a power outage Wednesday morning, as the lights went out at CES 2018 at about 11:15 a.m. local time, just as the second day of exhibitions were ramping up.
Booths at the Las Vegas Convention Center went dark for more than an hour after power went out in the center’s South and Central halls. Affected companies in Central hall included Sony, Samsung, Intel, and LG.

A CES spokesperson told TheWrap that the organization doesn’t know why the power went out. But the convention’s Twitter feed accentuated the positive, recommending that visitors “get outside on this beautiful Las Vegas day,’ as they work through an “isolated power outage.” Other convention venues, like the Aria Venetian hotels, were unaffected.
Las Vegas was hit by heavy rainfall on Tuesday, with streets along The Strip flooded.
