[Women's Basketball] WBB's Perkins named AAC Player of the Week
Freshman forward Morgan Perkins (FR/Florence, SC) of St. Andrews was named as the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This is the 12th edition of the weekly honors for the 2017-18 season. The next set of awards will be announced on Feb. 11. The award was her first of the season and the team's first as well. Perkins next leads the Knights (9-15) into action on Tuesday at Bluefield St. at 5:30 PM.
AAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Morgan Perkins - St. Andrews - Fr. - Florence, S.C.
-Averaged 22.0 points and 13.0 rebounds per game during the week in helping St. Andrews to a 2-1 record.
-Posted 3 double-doubles last week as she now has seven on the season to lead the team
-She is also averaging 13.4 points per game and 8.3 rebounds/game on the season
-In a 69-44 win over Truett McConnell, she recorded 22 points and 17 rebounds while putting up 21 points and 11 rebounds at Bluefield and 23 points and 11 rebounds at home vs. TWU on Saturday as SAU upset the Bulldogs 67-60.
-Perkins also had 5 blocks, 3 assists, and 3 steals as well.
-Shot 55.8 percent, connecting on 29-of-52 shots from the floor.
This is her first weekly award this season.
