Will the A’s free baseball game be a hit — or a bust?
A wise Chronicle editor once told me that the job of a sportswriter is to inform, not ask. Don’t fill up your piece with a lot of questions when you can provide information to the reader. That’s all well and good, but when it comes to the A’s big extravaganza Tuesday night — with free admission for fans — a ton of questions must be asked.
Such as:
The A’s say they distributed 200,000 tickets to the game, in celebration of the team’s 50th year in Oakland, and expect about 70,000 to show up based on follow-up RSVPs. If capacity is reached, those with valid tickets will be issued a free entry to a future game.
