GAME of Thrones season 8 is going to be completely re-written, re-filmed and re-released by HBO – that’s if some fans get their way.
After tuning in to the last five episode of the final series, a lot of viewers are unhappy and are demanding the powers that be put things right – but will Game of Thrones bosses listen? Here’s everything you need to know…
Is a Game of Thrones season 8 remake happening?
There has been no word of a season 8 remake from the show’s bosses.
However some disgruntled fans of Game of Thrones are demanding that the latest and final season be remade..
And a petition making the demand has now topped 1 million signatures ahead of tonight’s finale.
With just one episode left to go of season 8 of the cult show, a fan named Dylan D has started a petition on Change.org asking HBO to remake the entirety of season 8 with new writers.
The petition is called “Remake Game of Thrones season 8 with competent writers.”
It states: “David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.
“This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
But Dylan didn’t enlighten his readers as to what part of the plot exactly had made him so angry that he was rallied into action to start the petition.
Why are fans so disgruntled by season 8 of Game of Thrones?
Since Game of Thrones is a show that elicits a lot of passion amongst its followers, perhaps it’s not so surprising that fans have been so divided.
Or indeed that they haven’t held back from expressing their very zealous opinions online.
And some fans were certainly eager to air their feelings on the penultimate episode of the final season which picked up its worst-ever rating.
Many were left furious over a plot twist that saw Daenerys Targaryen turn evil.
The show favourite went on a murderous rampage around King’s Landing despite the city surrendering, with one viewer tweeting: “Well that was f***ing terrible.”
Rating site Rotten Tomatoes gave the episode, titled The Bells, a 49 per cent rating – the lowest-rated in the show’s history.
And viewers took to social media to blast the turn of events that saw Daenerys become the “Mad Queen.”
One slammed the episode as “disappointing” saying: “The writing behind Daenerys’ actions felt sexist and nonsensical.”
Another complained that it wasn’t up to the standard of previous series, insisting there had been “a lot of character development thrown out the window”.
A third simply asked: “Remember when game of thrones had good writing?”
What has George RR Martin said?
While fans aren’t very happy with Game of Thrones season 8, the author of the books is standing by the show’s writers.
As he hasn’t yet penned the last book in the series, fans had speculated that Martin may decide to take his novel in another direction given how unpopular the new series has been.
However, he has spoken out to say others.
“I don’t think [Game of Thrones show-runners] Dan and Dave’s ending is gonna be that different from my ending because of the conversations we did have.
“We’re talking here about several days of story conferences taking place in my home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. But there’s no way to get in all the detail, all the minor characters, all the secondary characters.
“The series has been extremely faithful compared to 97% of all television and movie adaptations of literary properties.
“But it’s not completely faithful. And it can’t be.
“Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons.”
Is everyone going to die in Game of Thrones season 8?
With the final ever episode of Game of Thrones around the corner, fans are starting to freak out over the possibility that only a few characters we’ve obsessed over will make it out alive.
One of the most famous phrases in the show is the high Valyrian saying Valar Morghuli.
As many of you know, that means, “All men must die”, and it is the customary saying in Essos.
Actor Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth, all but admitted the famous phrase could be the key to the show’s ending during an appearance on The Late Late Show.
“We’re all going to die. Don’t forget ‘Valar Morghulis,’ which is one of the phrases on the show which means ‘all men must die’,” he said ominously.
The phrase also has a traditional reply that translates to “all men must serve.”
Now Dany’s gone full-on “Mad Queen” maybe she will just ensure everyone who is against her now is destroyed and she can rule over the land of ashes.

Were there multiple endings filmed for season 8 of Game of Thrones?
Yes, Game of Thrones bosses filmed multiple endings for the cult fantasy drama’s big series finale to prevent key plot details leaking online.
The secrecy surrounding the series’ ending was taken to a whole new level.
Producers have even kept cast members in the dark about which characters live or die.
Talking to Vulture, Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, revealed that they also shot fake scenes.
She said: “We shoot fake scenes. We got into costume in Croatia because we know the paparazzi lurk around there, so we would spend like half a day doing nothing.”
Kit Harington admitted that he cried when he read the final script, and also revealed that there was a secret episode of the show that will never air.
He revealed: “They say, if I ever p**s them off too much, they’ll release it on YouTube.
“Every now and then, they send me a screengrab, just as a threat.”
Though the latest leak has been coming true so it didn’t work out like they hoped.

The last ever episode (season 8, episode 6) of Game of Thrones will air TONIGHT May 20, 2019 at 9pm on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
It first airs at 2am on the television network before being repeated in the evening, for those who couldn’t stay up to watch in the early hours of the morning.
Episode six will show whether anyone will truly win this Game of Thrones.
