Whenever a writer starts anew, they face the white space of the empty page, the white screen. There is an absolute freedom in this moment. They might have a story they want to write or a desire to discover something inside themselves through the act of writing and bring it to the surface of the page and into existence where it might live, or die; when the story first lies naked on the page, the chosen words may not, unfortunately, support its being.
