When news came that Ohsweken would be losing access to most of the land they were using to park cars and campers for the 2018 season it put the future of the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals and the track’s World of Outlaws series dates in doubt. "The Constitution poses no threat to our current form of government."
That was the late Joe Sobran's ironic take mostly on the courts' blatantly unconstitutional usurpations over the past few decades.
The most powerful evidence that federal judges have eclipsed the other branches of government is the circus surrounding President ...

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Opening the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) without a win is certainly not the results that the Olivet Nazarene University women's soccer team had hoped for coming out of their non-conference schedule. The Tigers historically stack their early games against strong, ranked opponents in order to best prepare themselves for a conference title run. This year was no exception as ONU faced five ranked opponents in their opening seven matches. The Tigers finished up on Saturday, Sept. Читать дальше...

Today's industry around men's facial hair is huge, but it's nothing new – for more than three centuries cosmetic products have reflected society's attitudes towards the male appearance
University Park PA (SPX) Sep 03, 2018 - A wearable energy-harvesting device could generate energy from the swing of an arm while walking or jogging, according to a team of researchers from Penn State's Materials Research Institute and the University of Utah. The device, about the size of a wristwatch, produces enough power to run a personal health monitoring system.
"The devices we make using our optimized materials run somewhere between 5 and 50 times better than anything else that's been reported," said Susan Trolier-McKinstry... Читать дальше...
Washington DC (SPX) Sep 04, 2018 - In a paper to be published in the forthcoming issue of NANO, a team of researchers from the China University of Mining and Technology have fabricated an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC) based on FeCo-selenide nanosheet arrays as positive electrode and Fe2O3 nanorod arrays as negative electrode. There is evidence that FeCo-selenide could be the next-generation promising electrode materials in energy storage devices.
Supercapacitors have been considered as the... Читать дальше...
Idaho Falls ID (SPX) Sep 05, 2018 - Industrial hydrogen is closer to being produced more efficiently, thanks to findings outlined in a new paper published by Idaho National Laboratory researchers. In the paper, Dr. Dong Ding and his colleagues detailed advances in the production of hydrogen, which is used in oil refining, petrochemical manufacturing and as an eco-friendly fuel for transportation.
The researchers demonstrated high-performance electrochemical hydrogen production at a lower temperature than had been possible before. Читать дальше...
Toyohashi, Japan (SPX) Sep 06, 2018 - Researchers at the Toyohashi University of Technology have successfully fabricated a lithium trivanadate (LVO) cathode thick film on a garnet-type oxide solid electrolyte using the aerosol deposition method. The LVO cathode thick-film fabricated on the solid electrolyte showed a large reversible charge and discharge capacity as high as 300 mAh/g and a good cycling stability at 100C. This finding may contribute to the realization of highly safe and chemically... Читать дальше...
Melbourne, Australia (SPX) Sep 07, 2018 - Researchers have developed a revolutionary method to 'print' large-scale sheets of two dimensional piezoelectric material, opening new opportunities for piezo-sensors and energy harvesting.
Importantly, the inexpensive process allows the integration of piezoelectric components directly onto silicon chips.

Now University of British Columbia researchers say they may have found a solution: pre-treating the electrode - a key component of fuel cells - with ionized oxygen gas, or plasma.

Scientists here on Earth seek to replicate this process, which merges light elements in the form of hot, charged plasma composed of free electrons and atomic nuclei, to create a virtually inexhaustible supply of power to generate electricity in what may be called a "star in a jar."
A long-time puzzle in the effort to capture the power of fusion on Earth is how to lessen or eliminate... Читать дальше...
Washington DC (SPX) Sep 13, 2018 - In the search for abundant clean energy, scientists around the globe look to fusion power, where isotopes of hydrogen combine to form a larger particle, helium, and release large amounts of energy in the process. For fusion power plants to be effective, however, scientists must find a way to trigger the low-to-high confinement transition, or "L-H transition" for short. After a L-H transition, the plasma temperature and density increase, producing more power.

Birmingham UK (SPX) Sep 13, 2018 - University of Birmingham scientists are paving the way to swap the lithium in lithium-ion batteries with sodium, according to research published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.
Lithium-ion batteries (LIB) are rechargeable and are widely used in laptops, mobile phones and in hybrid and fully electric vehicles. The electric vehicle is a crucial technology for fighting pollution in cities and realising an era of clean sustainable transport.
