Not correct to take steps that can overlap legal process: EC on probe against politicians
The Election Commission (EC) has defended its commitment to protecting the level playing field in India's poll season, despite opposition claims of probe agencies targeting leaders over graft. The EC has not taken any steps that could overlap the legal and judicial process, and has put in public domain its enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the first time. The EC has received nearly 200 complaints from various political parties and candidates, with action taken in 169 cases.
