New app will let you pay on Muni with your smartphone
Muni, like transit agencies pretty much everywhere, has warned riders to keep their cell phones in their pockets while riding the bus or train. But it appears there’s getting ready to be a major exception. Muni and tech company Globe Sherpa have announced that sometime this summer they’ll start testing an app that allows passengers to pay their fares with their phones. But don’t get too excited if you’re a FastPass user. To begin, the app will allow the purchase of single-ride tickets and three- and seven-day passports used mainly by visitors.
