Poll: Seattle voters are cool to rent control despite hot Council hearing
Voters in Seattle are wary about imposing rent control despite a drive by Seattle City Council members Kshama Sawant and Nick Licata to get legislators to remove a statewide rent control ban. The survey by EMC Research gave 450 likely August primary voters a pair of options. Would they support “strict rent control and capping costs to protect affordability”? Or would they favor “a variety of policies including developer fees and increasing the affordable housing supply.” Kshama Sawant: Socialist on the Seattle City Council wants state ban on rent control lifted, and co-hosted town hall with “WE NEED RENT CONTROL” signs in profusion.
