Mascots (11 replies)
Away at Port Vale in the nineties, half time and Blues were losing comfortably to the hosts.
Now for some reason, Port Vale had Mr Blobby, of Noel's House Party fame, as their mascot. And at half time, this Mr Blobby in a Vale strip came over to the Blues and was taking the piss, cupping ears and exaggerated belly laugh, whilst pointing at the Blues fans.
After soaking up some good natured and less good natured abuse, he still continued to do it. That was until a few Blues fans started to climb over the front wall. He turned a legged it. Unfortunately for him, he tripped and his head came off and you could see the look of fear in his face as he saw 2 angry Blues fans trying to get to him through stewards, and they were on the pitch. They got near him before they were wrestled to the ground. The visibly shaken mascot climbed to his feet, helped by a couple of stewards and rounded off his ill advised performance by putting his head back on, backwards.
Anyone else remember this? Or any other mascot based tales?
