Minecraft Players Ambush Friend With Surprise In-Game Birthday Party
A Minecraft player stuck in lockdown logged onto their game to discover their friends had put together a surprise party to celebrate their birthday.
Stuck in lockdown during their birthday, a Minecraft player logged onto the game to discover their friends had gathered together to throw them a surprise party. 12 years since its first release, Minecraft continues to remain massively popular thanks to its seemingly infinite procedurally generated world, and a variety of game modes that cater to different play styles.
The sandbox game continues to receive consistent updates from developer Mojang, with its latest update, "Caves & Cliffs: Part 1" bringing a plethora of new content in the form of new blocks, mobs, and items for players to enjoy. While "Part 2" of the update is still in the works, it is also rumored that Mojang currently has two new Minecraft games in development, however, the projects are said to be unrelated to its main title and Minecraft Dungeons.
Reddit user QuanWick shared some screenshots of their surprise birthday party which took place in their Minecraft world due to lockdowns. The Redditor’s friends had carefully decorated the party room with colorful candles and hung twisting vines from the ceiling to replicate ribbons. What was even more impressive was the pile of different colored glazed terracotta blocks which were cleverly topped with amethyst buds, making the blocks look like boxes of presents that were wrapped with a bow. Most importantly, QuanWick’s friends remembered to include the key element to any birthday party, a cake along with some cookies to help celebrate the special occasion.
One Redditor was quick to point out that interestingly, the entire room was adorned with numerous wall decorations in the form of nether stars and ender crystals. A key ingredient to crafting a beacon in Minecraft, the nether star is tricky to obtain as it is only dropped after defeating the formidable three-headed boss called the Wither. Being a seasoned Minecraft player, QuanWick explained that their friends had simply taken the nether stars from a farm that the Redditor had created, as the party hosts were too new to the game to take on the Wither, or even know of the nether star’s true use.
Multiplayer video games have become a great way for players to remain connected during global lockdowns, and offer an excellent place for friends to gather while remaining safe. Recently, one couple decided to host their wedding anniversary on Animal Crossing, with the celebrations taking a hilarious turn when an NPC decided to crash the party. QuanWick’s surprise birthday party is a heart-warming example of how friendships have adapted to endure with the help of video games.
Minecraft is available across the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Android, and iOS platforms.
