KUWTK: Kim Kardashian Pokes Fun At Kanye West During SNL Hosting Debut
Kim Kardashian hosts Saturday Night Live for the first time, as she makes fun of herself, Kanye West and her family members in her monologue.
Keeping Up With The Kardashians alum Kim Kardashian made her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live and began the show with a hilarious monologue in which she poked fun at her estranged husband, Kanye West, and her family members. Ahead of Kim's SNL hosting gig, Kanye was reportedly helping her to get prepared. Kim was reportedly nervous about hosting SNL and saw it as a big challenge, so she was determined to be a success on the show. There were also reports saying Kanye quietly advised Kim on her performance, opening monologue and the costume she would wear on her big night.
Just ahead of her SNL hosting debut, Kim and Kanye were spotted leaving a hotel together as she made her way to 30 Rockefeller Plaza. She looked gorgeous in a floor-length Barbie pink outfit, which she paired with silver boots and a matching silver purse. Kim also wore pink gloves and accessorized her look with silver drop earrings and dark shades. Her brunette hair was swept back into a bun. Meanwhile, Kanye looked cool in an all-black ensemble as he walked behind his estranged wife. The couple's sighting together just before Kim's SNL hosting debut seemingly put credence to the reports that Kanye helped her get prepared. If that was indeed the case, the rapper would have known about and enjoyed her playful jabs at him during the show.
Kim wore an all-pink ensemble while hosting Saturday Night Live and kicked things off with an irreverent monologue, in which she shaded herself, family members and Kanye. Kim couldn't resist bringing up her and Kanye's much-publicized split. She said she has been blessed in life and is grateful for everything, including the ups and downs. Kim spoke about her marriage to Kanye, whom she described as the best rapper of all time and America's richest Black man. She also described Kanye as a talented legit genius who gave her four incredible kids. Kim continued by saying, "So when I divorced him, you have to know it came down to just one thing: his personality. I know it sounds mean, but people keep telling me that comedy comes from truth. And if there's one thing that I always strive to be, it's genuine."
At the beginning of her monologue, Kim expressed her excitement at being on SNL to show people that she is so much more than just a pretty face, good hair, great makeup and attractive physical features. Shading her sisters, she said, "Basically, I'm just so much more than that reference photo my sisters showed their plastic surgeons." Kim expressed pride that no one could ever tag her as a gold digger before adding, "Honestly, I'm not even sure how you become one. So I asked my mom's boyfriend, Corey [Gamble]." Kim also made fun of her family's unsuccessful attempts at politics, including Kanye's failed presidential campaign and Caitlyn Jenner's bid for California governor. She initially said she was at the show to announce her intention to run for office before quickly saying, "I'm just kidding, guys! I'm not running for president. We can't have three failed politicians in one family."
Kim might have been nervous before her SNL debut, but her impressive performance on the night showed she was well-suited for it. She looked very comfortable and showed her humorous side with funny jabs at her personality and family. If reports that Kanye helped her to get ready for her big night are accurate, then her five-star performance showed she took his lessons home. Although Kim and Kanye are in the midst of a divorce, recent developments show the couple always supports each other and remains good friends. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians alum added another feather to her cap with her performance on Saturday, and her fans surely enjoyed what they saw. It was a night to remember, and one can bet that there will be many more to follow.
