State lawmakers head to Central America to address immigration crisis
Six California lawmakers will travel to El Salvador and Guatemala next week to meet with national leaders there regarding the surge in unaccompanied minors fleeing Central America for the United States. Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento, and Sen. Ellen Corbett, D-East Bay, are among the six state lawmakers traveling Monday for a 10-day “fact-finding mission” to the Central American countries.
