Police investigating fatal shooting in Hartford
The Hartford Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one man dead on Thursday afternoon.
Hartford Police Department patrol officers responded to the Kent Street area on a ShotSpotter activation just after 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As they arrived, dispatch received reports of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Albany Avenue at Woodland Street, according to police.
Fire, EMS and police officers responded to the scene of the crash and found an unresponsive man inside one of the vehicles suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
The man, identified as 28-year-old Carl Patterson Jr., was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to police.
Police said the shooting occurred in the area of 48 Baltimore Street. Patterson was driving away from the scene at the time of the crash.
