Manchester United forward Anthony Martial will play no part in the FA Cup final against Manchester City due to a hamstring injury.
United disclosed: “Martial is out of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City due to injury.
“Assessments have revealed a muscle tear that rules the 27-year-old out of the Wembley showdown.”
He picked up a hamstring injury in a 2-1 win over Fulham in United’s final Premier League match of the season.
Martial might have played his last United game
Martial is facing an uncertain future at United. He has missed most of the campaign due to various injuries.
Out of the 21 Premier League appearances this season, only 11 have come from the starting line-up.
The 27-year-old has an impressive tally of nine goals and three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.
However, the unreliability he brings is not good enough to be United’s leading number nine.
If United want to progress like Man City, they must be brutal in this transfer window.
The Red Devils should look to offload Martial for a fee of £15-20 million and use that to increase their summer transfer budget.
His recent injury is a massive blow for Erik ten Hag. The gaffer would have started Martial up front in the FA Cup Final.
The Dutchman is already without Lisandro Martinez, Donny van de Beek and Marcel Sabitzer. Antony’s involvement is also doubtful, considering he was stretchered off the pitch against Chelsea.
With Martial set to miss the final, Ten Hag could utilise Marcus Rashford in the centre-forward role.
Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho could offer him support from the flanks if Antony is not fit enough to start the game.
