Mountain magic in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro
Mount Maglic, a challenging and beautiful 10-hour hike featuring meadows of splendid wildflowers, rock scrambling and a long descent on scree to stunning Trnovacko Lake in Northern Montenegro.
Sarajevo is a picturesque city but very casual, and in the national parks all you’ll want are things to hike in.
Coolest souvenir: A wooden spoon carved right in front of me by a Luka Mira villager.
Dinner at Hedona Wine Club, in the mountains above (and with a fabulous view of) Sarajevo.
Wish I’d packed: A sweater to wear in Sarajevo when the evenings were cool.
All I had was a fleece jacket for hiking and it looked ridiculous when I wore a casual skirt or dress.
