On June 2, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) declared a Public Health Emergency in Guam following Typhoon Mawar, which swept through the North Pacific at the end of May. The announcement follows an emergency declaration from President Biden and will allow the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) greater latitude in addressing Guam’s health needs.
