Illinois secretary of state tells drivers to 'ditch the DMV' and register online
Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is suggesting a New Year’s resolution for Illinois motorists: Ditch the DMV. The Democrat on Thursday announced expanded online services for the “Skip the Line, Do It Online” program. Offering routine drivers' and vehicle registration services on the web saves taxpayers time and reduces historically lengthy queues at the state facilities the secretary has dubbed the “DMV.” Mail and telephone transactions are also available. The expansion includes a website portal where customers determine the exact service they need. New facilities have been set aside for services for seniors and instances in which renewal requires a road test.
