I was on The Apprentice – bosses edited out Lord Sugar’s most outrageous swipes after boardroom reaction
IT’S not all serious business talk in The Apprentice’s boardroom, the show’s latest fired candidate has revealed.
Onyeka Nweze became the next contestant to leave the BBC One business series tonight, after failing to impress Lord Sugar with her performance in the task dedicated to all things Formula E.
The candidates were tasked with launching a new team and pitching for sponsorship in multi-million pound negotiations.
Team Nexus, led by Tre Lowe, managed to set a record-breaking deal of £38.7million – but it wasn’t all celebrations and, on the losing team, Onyeka was fired.
While things got tense in an on-screen showdown before she was given the axe by the business mogul, she admits there were more laughs in the boardroom than shown on screen.
In fact, Onyeka says that Lord Sugar was so funny at times, the production team had to cut out his wisecracks because he was causing too much laughter.
She said: “He wasn’t intimidating at all, I just thought that he was so funny – and I think they cut some scenes of us all cackling.
“It was just so hilarious, every joke Lord Sugar made blended so well with what had happened in each task, and he was just really funny.”
The businessman’s soft side meant instead of seeing him as a potential boss, Onyeka thought he was more like her mother.
She added: “Lord Sugar is lovely, and he honestly just reminds me of my mum, like that no-nonsense mum that just wants you to do well.
“I learnt from him that I should always back myself 100 per cent – and never stop fighting especially when you fail, to never give up.
“We didn’t get to spend that much time with Lord Sugar, only really in the boardroom, which limited his opportunity to give us advice, but he’s absolutely not [scary].”

It appears he is yet to shake the aftermath of the cocaine theft and cover-up, with addict Casey (Emily Fairn) and her love interest Marco (Josh Finan) still on the scene.
Joining the cast for the new series are Chernobyl’s Adam Nagaitis, Tin Star’s Ian Puleston-Davies and Lord of The Rings’ Bernard Hill.
Written by Tony Schumacher, season one, two years ago, was up for six Baftas.
ANT and Dec will chat with Wicked Little Letters stars Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley in the second episode of Saturday Night Takeaway’s new series tomorrow.
Matt Lucas is guest announcer on the ITV1 programme from 7pm.

Wags’ world in Prime viewing
THESE glamorous stars of Married To The Game led the talent arriving at Prime Video’s showcase of their sexiest new shows.
The documentary series provides an insight into the home lives and relationships of footballers and has gained huge interest since its debut last week.
The five WAGs were joined by other big names including Jack Whitehall, who plays a lead role in upcoming pscyhological thriller, Malice.
Also attending the event yesterday in London, were the cast and creators of six-part comedy thriller, Dead Hot.

MONEY man Martin Lewis has landed a “bucket list” daytime TV job.
Before Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley take to the This Morning sofa as the new full-time hosts on March 11, The Money Saving Expert has revealed he will join Josie Gibson as co-host next week.
He said of the one-off special on Monday: “I’ve been expert-ing on This Morning for 21 years, and in recent times usually from home.
“Well I’m going in on Monday, having mentioned off-hand to the producers last week that I’d like to present it ONCE (a bucket list thing), they said come on and give it a go!
“No idea if I’ll be any good at it, especially the less serious bits, but it’ll be fun to try – before the proper new dynamic duo of Ben and Cat get going.”
