Justin Thomas once helped Michael Jordan win at golf and bought his first car with the money
A teenage Justin Thomas won a few thousand dollars teaming with Michael Jordan.
Before Justin Thomas was known to the world as a two-time major champion and one of the best golfers in the world, he was helping six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan win on the golf course.
No, seriously. When Thomas was 15 years old, Jordan would play Thomas’s dad’s course and Thomas would caddy. During one round, Jordan snatched Thomas up as a teammate, not knowing the teenager was on a path of becoming a pro, and the results were as you might expect — a young Thomas helped Jordan win and walked away with a few thousand dollars.
Now 30, Thomas shared the story Monday on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“I made four birdies in seven holes and helped pay for my first car,” Thomas said. Sounds like Jordan made a sound decision.
