Armed attack on two Iranian military bases; 5 attackers and 5 security forces killed
Iranian media have reported on armed attacks on two military bases in the Sistan and Baluchestan province of Iran, stating that in the confrontation between the two sides, five attackers and five Iranian security forces have been killed.
Iranian military officials have stated that the attack, carried out by the “Jaish al-Adl” group, occurred around 10 p.m. yesterday, with 15 assaults on the cities of Rask and Chabahar.
Alireza Marhamati, the deputy security chief of Sistan and Baluchestan province, also told Iranian state television that the Jaish al-Adl group has claimed responsibility for the attack, alleging that the group is acting on orders from Israel.
IRNA news agency has also reported simultaneous operations to eliminate the “terrorists” in both cities, with them being defeated.
According to the agency’s report, five security forces and five attackers have been killed in these clashes.
The Jaish al-Adl group, referred to by Iran as “Jaish al-Zulm” (Army of Injustice), is a religious group that claims to fight for the rights of Sunni Muslims.
The deteriorating security situation in the region has raised concerns about the spread of instability beyond Afghanistan’s borders. Iranian authorities are grappling with increased violence, necessitating heightened vigilance and robust countermeasures to address the escalating threats emanating from across the border.
