Radu Dragusin’s agent hits out at Ange Postecoglou and warns 22-year-old could leave in the summer
Radu Dragusin’s agent has hit out at Ange Postecoglou over the Romanian’s lack of playing time this season.
Dragusin arrived at Spurs in January from Italian side Genoa in a deal worth £25, as the north London club beat off competition from German giants Bayern Munich for his signature.
The Romanian’s time in the Premier League hasn’t gone how he would have imagined, and he has only started two league games, as he finds himself behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.
Dragusin’s agent hits out at lack of playing time
The 22-year-old was a regular at Genoa starring in a back three, but hasn’t featured for Spurs since the end of March against Luton.
Postecoglou’s side are going through a bad run of form, and have lost their last three Premier League matches, and only have two wins in their last nine.
Defensively Spurs look all over the place, particularly from set pieces, and despite going unbeaten in their first 10 games of the season, the club look set to miss out on a top four finish and Champions League football.
A lack of playing time has seen the Romanian’s agent Florin Manea criticise the 58-year-old for mis-using his client.
“The coach said many times he does not want to play with a three-man defence, evidently he knows best, but Tottenham concede a ton of goals”, Manea told Radio CRC.
“Playing with three gives more security.
“I also think Tottenham concede a lot of goals from set plays, so Dragusin would be very helpful due to his power in the air, he used to get all the headers at Genoa.”
Manea also hinted if the situation didn’t improve Dragusin may consider returning to Italy.
“If he doesn’t play, then we have to think about other solutions, but he only arrived in January, so that seems unlikely right now.
“If Bayern and Tottenham hadn’t been there, he would’ve chosen Napoli. If they were to offer a loan, especially if Antonio Conte was the coach, then we could evaluate that.
“I can say that if Postecoglu told Dragusin that he is only considered an alternative to the other centre-backs, then he would not stay just to sit on the bench.”
The former Genoa man has only made six appearances following his arrival, and it remains to be seen how much, if any game time he receives over the last three games.
