I’m a busy mum and I used to spend HOURS cleaning at the weekend – but now I get everything spotless in just 7 minutes

KEEPING your home clean can feel like a full time job, especially if you’ve got little ones running around.

But one savvy mum has revealed how she slashed the time it takes her to clean her home so she can get it looking spotless in just seven minutes.

Tarayn Maria used to spend hours cleaning every weekend, but now her pad looks just as clean, but she gets it all done in no time at all.

The cleaning whizz took to YouTube to break down her routine minute by minute so we can all do the same.

“I’ve figured it out, I’m only spending seven minutes on my daily cleaning activities.

“You’re going to wonder how, and I’m going to tell you,” Taryn explained.

Minute one

The first minute of the speedy cleaning routine should be spent making your bed.

“If you can’t make your bed within this one minute I urge you to get rid of some of your textiles, the throw pillows, the blankets,” the cleaning whizz said.

In fact, since ditching all the unnecessary fluff, the mum said she could probably make her bed in under 30 seconds.

And if you needed another reason to cut down on pillows and throws, Taryn added that they’re all huge dust magnets so are probably adding even more time to your current cleaning routine.

Minute two

It’s time for a quick bathroom wipe down.

This isn’t when you’re going to worry about deep cleaning or getting into any nooks and crannies – save that for when you do have the time.

Instead the mum recommended doing little jobs first thing in the morning, like cleaning the sink as you wash your face or brush your teeth.

You can save even more time by cleaning your shower while you’re in it too.

“Just pick one thing to do every day,” Taryn said.

Minute three

Laundry can pile up quick, so staying on top of it is a must in a busy household.

Of course, you won’t be able to fully fold and put away a full load of clothes in just one minute, but there are smaller laundry jobs you can tick off your list in this time.

Whether you’re just collecting clothes off of the floor to throw in the laundry basket, moving a load from the washing machine to the tumble drier or even separating clothes ready to wash them later – there are loads of little things you can do in this minute, Taryn explained.

Minute four

At this point Taryn is over half way done with her cleaning routine, which means it’s time to head to the kitchen.

“Use this minute to clean off the counters, do some dishes,” the mum said.

There’s no need to get everything finished in this time, but even making a dint in your cleaning to do list is a good place to start.

Minute five

Taryn said she uses this time for a general house clean, meaning it could change every day depending on where the most mess or clutter is.

“I can spend 60 seconds and put everything back where it belongs and get the house into a neater sense of order,” she said.

Minute six

This one might seem like a waste of time, but Taryn said if she spends just one minute preparing for the rest of the day things run more more smoothly.

So, take time to put your kids’ bags by the door, brew some coffee or even pick your outfit for the day.

The speedy routine is all about give and take though, so if there’s nothing you need to prepare you can always spend an extra minute on one of the other steps to get a deeper clean.

Lastly, it’s time to clean the floors.

One minute might not seem like a lot of time to get this done, but you don’t have to do the whole house, just one of the high traffic areas, like the hallway or kitchen.

Taryn suggested buying a small handheld vacuum cleaner to suck up crumbs from small places, which is a perfect way to spend the final minute of the cleaning routine.
