PSSDC GRADUATES 135 PARTICIPANTS IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION CERTIFICATE COURSE
The Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC) has graduated 135 participants in Local Government Administration Certificate course.
The nine-month programme is designed to equip public servants with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective service delivery at the local government level.
In his closing remarks at the event held at Magodo, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo commended the 135 graduates for their dedication and perseverance, highlighting the critical role local government staff plays in shaping the lives of citizens and achieving efficient administration.
Ayantayo emphasised the Lagos State government’s commitment to continuously enhancing the capabilities of her public servants under the leadership of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to align with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus development agenda.
He stressed the importance of improved service delivery and contributions towards the state’s development goals, urging the graduands to improve on their capabilities to make positive impacts within the local government service.
The Representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mr. Bamidele Balogun congratulated the graduates and commended PSSDC and Lagos State Local Government Service Commission for their collaborative efforts in delivering the program. He emphasised the value of the course as a stepping stone for further academic and professional development.
In the same vein, the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Office of Local Government, Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mr. Adedeji Adenusi, highlighted the nature of the collaboration between PSSDC and Local Government Service Commission and its focus on addressing career stagnation amongst Grade Level 07 officers.
He encouraged graduates to apply their newly acquired skills to overcome challenges within local government and contribute to the prosperity of the state.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), Mr. Adekunmilola Toluwase Adio-Moses underscored the importance of the Certificate Course in providing opportunities for Chief Clerical Officers in the Local Government Service to advance beyond Grade Level 07 and pursue further qualifications.
“The nine-month programme will equip participants with a comprehensive skill set through courses in English Language, Mathematics, Local Government Administration and Management, Local Government Laws, Finance and Accounts among others. He also informed that the year 2023 graduating class is a special one in that it coincides with the PSSDC’s 30th anniversary.
Adio-Moses stated further that the certificates awarded are not only a symbol of achievement but also serve as a prerequisite for promotion within the local government service, adding that they act as a stepping stone towards the LASU-PSSDC Part-time Collaborative Diploma in Local Government Administration and Development Studies.
He therefore commended the Lagos State Government for its support and prioritising staff training and development for effective service delivery in the State.
Responding on behalf of the participants, the Governor of the graduating set, Mr. Hazmat Abiona from Agege Local Government thanked the State Government and the PSSDC for the opportunity given to him and other participants to participate in the course because it has exposed them to various Skill set, which will yield effective service delivery in their various local governments.
