My husband got me and his girlfriend pregnant at the same time – people are horrified but I’m not mad
A WOMAN has revealed how her husband got his and their girlfriend pregnant at the same time, with strangers confusing them as ‘pregnant best friends.’
Alexandra Simpson, 26, and her husband Zane Simpson, 27, from Athens, Georgia, were together for seven years with two young children before Kai Pruitt, 22, came into their lives.
After opening their marriage, it was Alexandra initially fell in love with Kai Pruitt whom she met from OKCupid and brought her to the family home.
But months later, her husband, Zane, fell for her too, and they eventually became a polyamorous trio with two babies on the way simultaneously.
Although the triad has faced criticism from family, strangers, and society, they claim they’re the happiest they’ve ever been.
Alexandra, a package handler, says: “Most married couples are secretly swingers or dating others.
“It’s more normal than people think and I really hope polyamory becomes more accepted.
“We may go against societal norms, but I wouldn’t trade my big, wonderful family for anything.”
Alexandra and her husband, Zane, a warehouse worker, met in 2014 whilst they were both teenagers.
They were a part of the Morman church with their families in Georgia.
‘DEEP DOWN I HAD A SECRET’
Alexandra says: “On a Sunday afternoon at church, during mass, I met Zane. Our families loved each-other.
“But deep down, I had a secret. I liked women too. But being in such a strict, religious family, I’d tried to fight against my feelings.
“For years, I didn’t even tell myself. I knew how close-minded my family, and our church was.”
Two years later, in 2016, Alexandra and Zane married in front of close family and friends.
But after their first year of marriage, Alexandra had a confession.
Alexandra says: “We were very settled into married life, but Zane would make typical husband jokes, saying we should have a threesome.
“I’d always laugh and tell him to stop it. I knew he was joking.
“Then one day, Zane jokingly brought up a threesome again. I said, ‘What if we have one?’
“He thought I was kidding but I said I was serious. After that I was the one that started bringing it up often, getting braver each time.
“Then I eventually found the courage that year to tell Zane I was bi-sexual. I delved into all the reasons I’d been so afraid to admit it and he was amazing.
“He thanked me for telling him and hugged me. After that, he always said he was happy for me to explore my sexuality and told me I could have my own girlfriend if I wanted.”
LOOKING FOR SOMEONE NEW
Over the years, the pair discussed possibly opening their marriage. Meanwhile, they went on to have two children, Pearce, 5, and Onyx, 3.
Alexandra says: “We loved being parents, and our marriage was strong as ever. But we still wanted to explore outside of us.
“We did research online and began looking into open marriages and polyamory.
“Ironically, Mormons used to allow polygamy, where a Mormon man could have multiple wives. But 120 years ago, it was prohibited, and rejected by the church.
“I knew my family would never agree with it. But Zane and I had to put our own happiness first.”
In August 2021, after seven years together, Alexandra and Zane opened their marriage, and Alexandra met Kai, 22, a warehouse worker, from dating site, OKCupid.
Alexandra says: “Kai was undeniably beautiful. We began discussing our lives, and I discovered Kai had been raised very similarly to me.
“She was polyamorous and was looking for love but didn’t have much experience.
“She was one of the strongest people I’d ever met. Being with her, I felt fireworks.
“Back at home, Zane was supportive and gave his blessing. I got into a relationship with Kai.”
THREE IN A BED
A month later, Alexandra brought her new girlfriend home to introduce to her husband.
To her relief, they got on well and after Kai had a falling out with her family that year, the couple offered for her to stay at their family home with their children.
Alexandra says: “After that, I juggled my relationship with them both. At night, I switched beds, and at times it was difficult trying to balance everything in a busy household.
“But we also hung out together, casually, as the three of us. It was then when Zane and Kai really built a friendship.
“I began going to work and they’d be home a lot together. They took the kids to the park, watched films and cooked.
“As months went by, I noticed a spark between them. They were laughing, and flirting.
“I didn’t want to put any pressure on them, so I said nothing. But one evening, I came home from work and they both told me they’d kissed, and confessed to falling for each-other.
“I was so happy because it happened organically.”
That week, Alexandra, Zane and Kai sat down and decided to become a polyamorous trio.
They immediately went shopping and upgraded to a super-king bed.
A BEAUTIFUL CONNECTION
Alexandra says: “I’d never slept with two people at the same time, and we were Kai’s first couple.
“But being with a woman for the first time, felt really natural. And Zane and I felt comfortable with her.
“Turned out the three of us had a beautiful connection. Kai was like the missing piece to our puzzle.

“The kids were ecstatic and loved their second mum. Sometimes when Zane worked, Kai would cook and I’d clean.
“I’d gone from having one amazing partner, to two, and it felt perfect.”
But after the trio told their families, they dealt with criticism. Kai’s family worried she was being used for a ‘cheque’ and ‘extra living help.’
Whilst Alexandra’s family told them it went against the church, and they cut her off.
EXPANDING THE FAMILY
Despite everyone’s disapproval, the trio went from strength to strength and Kai even began trying for a baby in 2022.
Alexandra says: “Zane and I were on board, and bought her ovulation tests to help keep track. But funnily, right after Kai began trying, I felt nauseous every day.
“I took a pregnancy test, and had Kai with me in the bathroom. Seeing two faint lines appear on my stick, Kai screamed.
“It was a complete shock. Two weeks later, Kai took a test, and it was positive too. We were both pregnant.”
The trio began planning right away, with Kai and Alexandra baby shopping together and preparing for their new arrivals.
But sadly, whilst Alexandra was two months along, Kai had a miscarriage.
Alexandra says: “We were devastated. But when I was four months along, Kai fell pregnant again. It was beautiful we got a second chance.
What is polyamory?
Polyamory is having more than one romantic relationship simultaneously.
A throuple or triad is a three-way relationship, in which each of the three people is in a romantic relationship with the other two people.
An open relationship is when one or both parties in a romantic couple dates other people. The couple can be married or unmarried.
Ethical non-monogamy (ENM) or consensual non-monogamy (CNM) is a relationship in which the people involved date and sleep with other people but are in agreement about the dynamic. These relationships typically value open communication. Many people who practice polyamory consider themselves to be ethically non-monogamous.
Swingers are couples that trade sexual partners or have group sex with other people or couples.
“As our bellies grew bigger simultaneously, we went baby shopping, got the house ready and went to each-other’s scans.
“Strangers and work colleagues assumed we were pregnant best friends. When they found out, they stopped speaking to me. But I didn’t let it get to me.
“Soon I found out I was having a baby girl.”
In June 2023, whilst Alexandra had one month to go, Kai had her own gender reveal party at three months along.
They discovered Kai was also having a daughter, and the pair had photos taken all day whilst cradling their bellies together.
Four weeks later, in July 2023, Alexandra went into labour and had a healthy baby girl, Lilith.
Alexandra says: “Kai and Zane were both by my side, and Kai helped cut the umbilical cord.
“But just one month later, when Kai was four months pregnant, she went into preterm labour and lost our other baby.
“Our hearts were shattered. Although she only lived for a few minutes, we all held her, and named her Zoey Renee Simpson. It was a moment we’d all cherish forever.
“Now, Lilith’s nine months old, although she came before Zoey, she’s our rainbow baby.
“She’s so lucky to have two mums, and a dad. Whilst Onyx and Pearce call Kai and I Mamma and Mum.
“Kai’s now planning to try for another baby this year once she has recovered.”
