A protest over Niphad’s stray dog problem took an unusual turn when Yuva Sena district chief Vikram Randhave and supporters released four to five dogs inside the Nagar Panchayat chief officer’s office. Protesters alleged repeated complaints about dog bites, public safety and rising stray numbers had not resulted in effective action. The civic administration later assured them that sterilisation and population-control measures were underway.
