Rose McGowan inaugurated the first-ever Women's Convention, organized by the women behind the Women's March on Washington, with a rousing speech about sexism and misogyny in Hollywood and beyond that happened to also be her first public appearance since the allegations of sexual harassment and assault against Harvey Weinstein broke earlier this month. It made the Convention, which was announced two months ago, all the more timely, presenting an opportunity for women to come together in solidarity in light of the barrage of sexual misconduct accusations that have been levied against major figures across industries since the reporting of the New Yorker and New York Times brought down Weinstein. Her address kicked off a three-day schedule of panels, workshops, and speeches by some of the most powerful voice in politics and activism, including Women's March organizers like Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory, and Sarah Sophie Flicker; congresswoman Maxine Waters; actors Piper Perabo, Amber Tamblyn, and Alia Shawkat; and more.
