Tokayev to visit Avaza at Berdimuhamedov's invitation
Tengrinews.kz - The Akorda press service has announced President Tokayev’s visit to Turkmenistan.
At the invitation of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will pay a working visit to Avaza on October 8-9.
Note: Avaza is a district of the city of Turkmenbashi and a resort on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea. It is Turkmenistan’s national tourist zone, located 12 kilometers from the center of Turkmenbashi. A large resort complex has been built there, with hotels, conference venues and infrastructure for hosting international events.
During the visit, the President of Kazakhstan is scheduled to take part in the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State, and the Caspian Environmental Summit.
The Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan brings together the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Such meetings focus on regional cooperation, trade, transport and logistics, energy, security and other common issues.
The CIS Council of Heads of State, as the Commonwealth’s highest body, discusses and decides on key CIS issues related to the common interests of member states, and also considers other matters involving interested member states without prejudice to the interests of other members of the Commonwealth.
The Caspian Environmental Summit is an international meeting focused on the environmental challenges facing the Caspian Sea and cooperation among the Caspian littoral states. Key topics include preserving the Caspian ecosystem, reducing pollution, biodiversity, water resources, climate change and the sustainable use of natural resources.
