(Nolcom PAO photo) At exactly 12 noon Saturday (April 30, 2016), a three-star general of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) led soldiers, fisher-folk, and other stakeholders in hoisting the Philippine flag on top of Hill 200 at the Mavulis (Y’ami) island to assert sovereignty on the northernmost island in the country. Located some 20 nautical miles from the municipality of Itbayat town in Batanes, Mavulis is a typhoon-prone island.
