The coaches of the nine other teams of the country’s oldest collegiate league immediately tagged Arellano as the team with a very good chance to raise the championship trophy following an impressive run in the summer. Though they lost to La Salle in a preseason tournament that gathered Manila’s top collegiate teams, the Chiefs triumphed in the Fr. Martin Cup twice.
