Many thousands of visitors and locals drive, walk or bike by the stuccoed seven-story building, once a harborside hotel, every year. Now 93 years old, the Fort Sumter House stands as an accommodating edifice overlooking the Ashley River, White Point Gardens and historic downtown mansions.
