Cigarette prices rise in Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz — Minimum retail prices for cigarettes have increased in Kazakhstan. This is stated in an order by the Minister of Finance.
According to the order, from August 1, 2026, the minimum price for a pack of 20 cigarettes will be 1,060 tenge. The new price will remain in effect through December 31, 2026. Previously, from January 1, 2026, the minimum retail price was 970 tenge.
Price to rise again
From January 1, 2027, the minimum retail price for a pack of cigarettes will increase to 1,120 tenge. The established prices apply to 20 filtered and unfiltered cigarettes, papirosy, cigarillos and heated tobacco products.
As a reminder, the Finance Ministry earlier explained that raising minimum prices is necessary to conduct a balanced tax and pricing policy for tobacco products. In addition, the measure is expected to help reduce tobacco consumption, increase budget revenues and reduce the share of the shadow economy.
