A 1.7 trillion plant and a new bridge - Tokayev briefed on major projects in West Kazakhstan Region
Tengrinews.kz — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the Akim of the West Kazakhstan Region, Nariman Turegaliev. The President heard a report on the socio-economic development of the region, with reference to Akorda.
As reported by Nariman Turegaliev, the gross regional product reached five trillion tenge as of January 1, 2026, marking a 13.6 percent increase over three years. By the end of last year, the volume of attracted investment totaled 874.5 billion tenge, a 16.6 percent increase compared to the previous year.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed in detail on the progress of previously issued instructions. Construction of a gas processing plant with a capacity of 5 billion cubic meters per year is set to begin shortly at the Karachaganak field. The investment project is valued at 1.7 trillion tenge. Additionally, construction of a new bridge over the Ural River is scheduled to commence by the end of this year.
According to official data, 121 new social facilities totaling 138 billion tenge have been built in the region over the past three years. Furthermore, 1,542 kilometers of roads have been renovated. Reconstruction of the "Syrym" checkpoint on the Kazakh-Russian border is also ongoing.
In 2027, a similar project will be launched at the "Taskala" checkpoint. Additionally, four newly built and reconstructed railway stations have been put into operation.
By the end of last year, gross agricultural output reached 320 billion tenge. Since the launch of the "Auyl Amanaty" program, 1,414 projects have been financed, creating approximately 2,000 new jobs.
Under the regional program "From City to Village," over a thousand people have relocated. All 218 families have been provided with housing and the necessary social support measures.
Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the continued development of the region, the acceleration of utility infrastructure modernization, and the implementation of additional measures to improve the population's quality of life.
