Snow, rain and strong winds: storm warnings issued across Kazakhstan
Tengrinews.kz — Forecasters have issued weather warnings for Thursday, August 27, in all regions of Kazakhstan. Strong winds, thunderstorms and rain are expected in various parts of the country, while extreme fire danger remains in effect.
During the day, rain, thunderstorms, hail, squalls and dust storms are expected in the west, north and south of Akmola Region. Southerly and southwesterly winds will gust to 15–20 metres per second during the day in the west, north and south, occasionally reaching 25 metres per second. In Kokshetau, rain and thunderstorms are expected during the day, with southwesterly wind gusts of 15–18 metres per second.
Light rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern Aktobe Region at night and in the northeast during the day. Fog is possible in central areas at night and in the morning. Northwesterly winds will gust to 15–20 metres per second at night in the south, east and center. High fire danger remains in central and northeastern areas, while extreme fire danger is in effect across the region.
In Almaty Region, northeasterly and easterly winds are expected, with gusts of up to 18 metres per second in the east during the day. Extreme fire danger remains in the center, west and east.
Extreme fire danger also remains in effect in Atyrau Region.
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast at night in northern East Kazakhstan Region, while precipitation in the form of rain and snow is expected in the east and mountainous areas. Fog is possible in the north and east at night and in the morning. Southwesterly winds will shift to easterly, reaching 15–18 metres per second in the north and east during the day.
In Zhambyl Region, northeasterly winds are expected, reaching 15–20 metres per second in the southwest, northeast and mountainous areas. Extreme fire danger remains in effect.
