Kazhydromet warned residents of Astana, Almaty and nine other cities

Tengrinews.kz — Kazhydromet has published a warning on its official website for residents of Astana, Almaty and nine other cities.
The information concerns the air quality forecast for Saturday.

“On September 5, unfavorable meteorological conditions are expected in Astana, Aktobe, Almaty, Karaganda, Zhezkazgan, Balkhash and Temirtau, and at night in Atyrau, Kostanay, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey,” the statement said.

Unfavorable meteorological conditions associated with air pollution are a combination of short-term weather factors, such as calm conditions, light winds, fog and temperature inversions, which contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the near-surface layer of the atmosphere.
Forecasters predict partly cloudy and dry weather in Astana. Southwesterly winds will reach 3–8 meters per second. Temperatures will range from +8…+10°C at night to +27…+29°C during the day.
In Almaty, partly cloudy and dry weather is expected. Northeasterly and easterly winds will reach 3–8 meters per second. Temperatures will be +11…+13°C at night and +22…+24°C during the day.
Aktobe will see partly cloudy and dry weather. Southeasterly winds will shift to southwesterly, reaching 3–8 meters per second, with daytime gusts of up to 12 meters per second. Temperatures will range from +11…+13°C at night to +30…+32°C during the day.
In Atyrau, partly cloudy and dry weather is forecast. Southeasterly and southerly winds will reach 2–7 meters per second at night and 7–12 meters per second during the day. Temperatures will be +18…+20°C at night and +29…+31°C during the day.
Zhezkazgan will see partly cloudy and dry weather. Northeasterly winds will shift to southeasterly, reaching 2–7 meters per second. Temperatures will range from +10…+12°C at night to +27…+29°C during the day.
In Karaganda, partly cloudy and dry weather is expected. Southeasterly winds will shift to northerly, reaching 2–7 meters per second. Temperatures will be +5…+7°C at night and +24…+26°C during the day.
Karaganda Region will also remain dry. Fog is possible in the north and east of the region at night and in the morning. Southeasterly winds will shift to northerly, reaching 9–14 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures will range from +2…+7°C, reaching +12°C in the south, while daytime temperatures will be +24…+29°C, and around +21°C in the east.
In Kostanay, partly cloudy and dry weather is expected. Southwesterly winds will reach 5–10 meters per second. Temperatures will be +11…+13°C at night and +29…+31°C during the day.
Semey will see mostly clear and dry weather, with fog at night and in the morning. Northeasterly winds will reach 1–6 meters per second at night and 5–10 meters per second during the day. Temperatures will range from +3…+5°C at night to +22…+24°C during the day.
