Motorists have questioned what the markings signify and whether driving or parking on them is permitted.
According to the Almaty Akimat press service, the multicolored pattern was applied to a traffic island to make it more visible to both drivers and pedestrians.
"The markings capture the attention of drivers and pedestrians, helping them navigate better and stay alert when approaching the roadway," the Akimat stated.
The city administration emphasized that the pattern was applied within the boundaries of an existing traffic island. The roadway has not been narrowed, and its parameters and traffic capacity remain unchanged.
