Izzo says Draymond Green would fight Godzilla
Tom Izzo held a news conference Tuesday to talk about his selection into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, but the Michigan State head coach happily spent most of his time chatting about Draymond Green.
Green completed his progression from a second-round pick to an All-Star this season, but he probably got even more attention for a tirade in February.
During a profane temper tantrum at halftime of the Warriors’ 121-118 overtime victory against Oklahoma City, the vociferous forward yelled at the coaches for treating him like a robot.
Izzo praised Green’s basketball IQ, his court vision, his toughness and his willingness to sacrifice anything in order to win.
The Michigan State squad regularly watches video of the Warriors to study Green’s ability to set screens.
Green went into Tuesday’s game averaging 13.9 points, 9.6 rebounds and 7.5 assists and ranked second in the league with 13 triple-doubles.
