Paul Ryan Refuses To Endorse Trump (Updated)
Unlike his compatriot Mitch McConnell, Zombie-Eyed Granny Starver Paul Ryan has some reservations about his party's new leadership.
Speaking to Jake Tapper on CNN earlier today, Ryan said, "I'm just not ready to do that at this point. I'm not there right now."
He went on to explain that in his view, it's not enough to claim one is a "unifier." He needs some actual evidence of that unifying force within the Republican Party.
Ryan weaseled quite a bit, calling for Trump to act in such a way that he will unify "all wings of the Republican Party and the conservative movement" and then campaign in a way that will allow Americans to "have something that they're proud to support and proud to be a part of."
Since that will never happen with this particular candidate, Ryan has just given cover for all of his endangered "true conservatives" in the House of Representatives.
Slow clap, Mr. Speaker.
Update: Ryan is weaseling just a little more, but the thing is, it's classic Paul Ryan. Set the bar at a place where the target is too far away, then blame the other guy when it's not cleared. It's also interesting that he said this while campaigning with Senator Ron Johnson, who has already endorsed Trump.
