KNBR Conversation with Hunter Pence
An edited transcript of an interview with the Giants’ Hunter Pence:
How do you stay so positive when things are going so bad for the Giants?
What would you tell fans thinking, “Why are these Giants playing such bad baseball?”
It’s frustrating for them, it’s frustrating for us.
[...] I think it’s powerful for the fans to keep the faith and just be like, This is a fluke.
[...] sometimes it’s not the best to coast your way there with a six-, 10-game lead all the way to the division title, so you find what you’re made of when you get into these little close races like we’re in, and we’re looking forward to the challenge.
Some people believe that (the Matt Duffy) trade hurt the clubhouse because he was such a beloved guy.
This guy is really a quality, solid individual and a great addition to the team, incredible talent.
[...] I think we need to let this thing play out before we start making all these assumptions because the squad that we have is tough.
[...] I feel extremely confident going into this last month and a half with the talent that we’ve got, the fans we’ve got — just looking forward to it.
