Truck driver shot near Oakland Coliseum sues for negligence
In the suit, Matson said he would regularly spend the night inside his truck in the Coliseum’s parking lot and make his delivery in the morning, shielding him for the night from the “high-crime area surrounding” the home of the Oakland Raiders and A’s.
[...] on Dec. 15, 2015, as Matson attempted to make a nighttime delivery at the Coliseum during a concert, he said security personnel at the parking lot’s gate “were adamant” in refusing him entrance for the night.
When Matson asked where he should park, and sleep, for the evening, the lawsuit claims, the guards directed him to the west side of Interstate 880, opposite the stadium.
Since Matson had previously “reasonably relied” on the Coliseum staff to let him sleep in their parking lot, the lawsuit claims the authority was negligent and exposed him to danger.
