Bay Area transit agencies planning for inauguration-protest crowds
Extra-long BART trains, an extra Larkspur ferry sailing and re-routed Muni service in San Francisco will help inauguration-related crowds get their points across and still get home on time.
An additional evening sailing has been added to the Larkspur ferry schedule on Saturday to whisk weary demonstrators home in style.
The extra northbound sailing departs the Ferry Building in San Francisco at 8:40 p.m. In all, there will be five Larkspur sailings in each direction on Saturday and 20 on Friday.
In the East Bay, AC Transit said it will reroute as many as 22 bus lines on Friday and Saturday because of planned protests and marches in downtown Oakland.
Buses will be “detoured away from Broadway” in the event of “unplanned protest demonstrations,” AC Transit said in a statement.
