Fire madness: government agencies continue to burn dry grass in the burning regions of the southern Siberia and Far East
An absurd situation is observed in the south of Eastern Siberia and the Far East: the fires in natural areas clearly go out of control, cover all the new forest area every day, threat to human settlements and housing estates more and more serious, but state and local government structures continue to burn dry grass, not only creating the threat of new large fires, but also giving a lead of negligent handling of fire to the people. According to the Emergencies Ministry, for the last day (April 12, 2011) 37% fires on natural areas identified by space photos was the "controlled burning" of dry vegetation!
In Amur region 74% fires on natural areas identified by space photos was the "controlled burning".
There is likelihood that the actual number of "controlled burning" is less than MOE reports, and a "controlled burning" is ordinary burns dry grass. MOE misrepresent the data to conceal the extent of the fire accident on natural areas. But in any case the number of "controlled burning" held by the state and municipal agencies, enough large to convince the trusting people that they can and should burn the dry grass in the spring. So, massive damage from spring grass fires and the ensuing fires in forests, moors and villages is not surprising.
