7th meeting of Armenia-EU Joint Visa Facilitation Committee held in Yerevan
ArmInfo.The 7th meeting of the Armenia-EU Joint Visa Facilitation Committee took place in Yerevan. It was chaired by head of the European Department of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ara Margaryan and deputy head of the visa policy department of the European Commission Antoine Savary.
According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the relevant departments of the Republic of Armenia, as well as representatives of the EU delegation to Armenia and the consular departments of the EU member states.
At the meeting, the Armenian side presented problems related to the implementation of the agreement "On facilitating the issuance of visas between the Republic of Armenia and the EU," specifying in detail those provisions requirements of which are not being met. Complaints received from citizens of the Republic of Armenia were examined in detail, positive indicators of cooperation on the issue of readmission and the progress achieved by Armenia were presented.
In the context of the issues raised, the European side, in turn, presented arguments that mainly related to the workload of embassies and the activities of Armenian tourism organizations. At the same time, the EU side expressed its readiness to seek joint solutions to correct the situation under consideration.
Ara Margaryan also touched upon the need to start a dialogue on RA-EU visa liberalization, noting that this issue is among the priorities of the Armenian government.
