Forcibly displaced citizens of Artsakh will receive temporary protection status in Armenia
ArmInfo.Tomorrow at a government meeting a decision will be made to grant temporary protection status to forcibly displaced citizens of Artsakh. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on October 25, answering
questions from parliamentarians.
He noted that this issue was discussed in the widest formats. "It was
important for us to come to a decision that would provide the
opportunity to maximally protect all the rights of our brothers and
sisters from Nagorno-Karabakh," the head of government noted. In this
regard, Pashinyan noted that the status will allow Artsakh residents
to protect their rights, both at the local and international levels.
After the decision is made, as the prime minister continued, Artsakh
residents will be able to apply for Armenian citizenship. "And, of
course, we will resolve this issue in the fastest possible ways," he
assured. After the Azerbaijani aggression on September 19-20, over
100.6 thousand citizens were forcibly displaced from Artsakh to
Armenia. In total, after the 44-day Artsakh war of 2020, the number
of Artsakh refugees amounted to about 150 thousand.
