Android App Closed Testing for Google Play — 12 Testers for 14 Days: How to Set It Up and Where to Find Testers
Creating a Closed Testing Track
This option becomes available after you have completed your developer profile verification and are able to create new apps.
After creating a new app, you need to complete the mandatory closed testing stage.
On the Google Play Console home page, open your app and go to:
- Test and release
- Testing
- Closed testing
- Create a new release
Complete all the required fields. Enter a release name in English — it can be any name you choose.
Select All Countries
In the Countries/regions tab, select all countries.
In the Testers section, select Email lists.
Click Create email list, enter a name for the list, add your Gmail addresses, press Enter, and save the list.
Then submit the release for publishing.
Wait for the Release to Be Approved
Once Google has reviewed and approved your closed testing release, you will see a checkmark indicating that the release is available for testing.
If You Don't Have Testers
Google Play's closed testing requirement is to have at least 12 testers opted in continuously for 14 days.

Find your testing release and edit it:
- Test and release
- Testing
- Closed testing
- Manage track
Open the Testers tab and select Google Groups.
Enter the email address of the tester group. You can find this address in the documentation provided before placing your order.
Save the changes. On the same page, scroll down and copy the tester opt-in link.
If Testers Can't See Your App
Check the following:
- On the Google Play Console home page, make sure the status under Users and permissions is Active.
- Make sure your build has been approved for testing. Go to Test and release in the left-hand menu, then select Testing → Closed testing. The status should be Available to selected testers.
- Make sure all countries are selected.
- In the Testers section, under Google Groups, make sure the correct group email address has been entered.
- On the Google Play Console home page, click your app and make sure the Dashboard shows the appropriate testing status.
If everything has been configured correctly, your remote testing team of at least 12 testers can remain opted in to the closed test for the required 14 consecutive days.
Once the 14-day testing period has been completed, you can proceed with the next steps required by Google Play.
