Indignación en Reino Unido por el vídeo de una bailarina trans de la Royal Academy que no sabe bailar: «Es una abominación»
La Royal Academy of Dance de Reino Unido (RAD), fundada en 1920, es una de las academias de ballet clásico más prestigiosas del mundo. Una institución que ayudó a estandarizar la profesión y que, en la actualidad, ayuda a conservar las técnicas clásicas de más alto nivel de la danza. Sin embargo, atrás quedaron los días en que solo las mujeres podían convertirse en bailarinas. En ese sentido, según Reduxx Magazine, una mujer transexual , conocida como Sophie Rebecca, aprobó el examen intermedio con 'meritos' en la prestigiosa academia en 2017 y se convirtió en la primera artista transgénero de la compañía . Sin embargo, en medio de la polémica que se está produciendo en los últimos meses en relación con la aceptación de personas transgénero en el mundo del deporte femenino, la historia de Rebecca ha provocado una gran polémica en las redes sociales. Respecto al vídeo en el que se puede ver a ambas bailarinas realizar el mismo baile, el usuario 'Jay D. Cartere' expresó: «La diversidad debería tratarse de encontrar artistas de alta calidad de diferentes orígenes. La diversidad no debería consistir en dar prioridad a los artistas mediocres porque tienen diferentes orígenes. Cosas como estas lastiman a todos». Por su parte, el usuario 'NW Hiker' reveló: «Soy dueño de un estudio de ballet. La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes son mejores que él. La mayoría de nuestros estudiantes tienen entre 2 y 18 años. Sin embargo, a pesar de las críticas por su evidente falta de talento, Rebecca no parece inmutarse. «Me enfrento a estereotipos todo el tiempo», reveló a la institución que apostó parte de su credibilidad en ella, a lo que añadió: «La gente tiene esta imagen en la cabeza si dices 'ballet'. Tienen la creencia de que existe un cuerpo de ballet o que es delicado y femenino. Puede serlo, pero también puede ser poderoso y fuerte».
