247 - Deforestation in the Atlantic Forest has decreased in the first five months of this year in Brazil. According to the report from the Atlantic Forest Deforestation Alert System (SAD), released today (27), there has been a significant reduction.According to G1, between January and May 2023, the deforested area of the biome across the country was 7,088 hectares, compared to 12,166 hectares recorded in the same period of 2022, representing a 42% decrease.The data from SAD is the result of collaboration between the SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation, Arcplan, and Mapbiomas. Notably, the states that previously had the highest deforestation rates are the same ones that experienced the greatest reductions in the devastated area this year.
