247 – Professor Pedro Serrano, one of Brazil's leading jurists, has demanded explanations from the Federal Police regarding their operation that arrested alleged terrorists linked to Hezbollah, who were reportedly planning actions against Israeli targets in Brazil. In a recent tweet, he suggests a possible set-up and calls for explanations from the Federal Police."I 'bought' the news from UOL that our PF intelligence identified a terrorist action by 2 Brazilians co-opted by Hezbollah as if it were true. I am receiving news that it wasn't like that. The PF needs to clarify to the public, was the action theirs or did it originate in Israel?", he posted. The Federal Police launched on Wednesday (8) the "Operation Trapiche" with the aim of interrupting preparatory acts of terrorism and gathering evidence of possible recruitment of Brazilians for the practice of extremist acts in the country. According to CNN Brazil, the operation resulted in the arrest of two individuals suspected of connections with Hezbollah, a group considered terrorist by several countries.
