Coronavirus relief bill negotiations continue as benefits set to expire

The federal jobless benefits Congress approved in April -- an extra $600 per person each week-- are about to expire as COVID-19 cases surge throughout the country. Details of a followup bill have yet to be worked out, but Congress did not meet on Saturday, and the president spent the afternoon golfing. Paula Reid reports.

Three named storms expected to make landfall in the U.S. this weekend

In the Gulf of Mexico, Hurricane Hanna became the first hurricane of the 2020 season to form in the Atlantic. The storm was upgraded to hurricane status early on Saturday morning while approaching landfall in Southern Texas. It is just one of three storms expected to make landfall in the U.S. this weekend. Alabama honors the life and legacy of Congressman John Lewis

The country is honoring the life of civil rights hero and Congressman John Lewis with a six-day memorial tour. That starts in Troy, Alabama, where he grew up, and in Selma, where he led the 1965 Voting Rights March across the Edmund Pettus Bridge. "CBS This Morning: Saturday" co-host Michelle Miller and Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence of Michigan joined CBSN to relay what his legacy means and how his fight for voting rights will continue.

Formal remembrance of Congressman John Lewis begins Saturday

Civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis died last week at age of 80. Lewis was a leader of the freedom riders, and a protege of Martin Luther King Junior. He often faced arrest and violence during his fight against racial segregation. Lewis's body left Atlanta Saturday morning, and is now on its way to Alabama. Michelle Miller reports from Selma.
